Job summary

Savannah-Chatham County Public School System is seeking an experienced School Resource Officer to police campus grounds and incidents at our Savannah, Georgia campuses. The officer will maintain high visibility, enforce laws and school rules, and prepare clear reports.

Requirements include GA POST certification, a GED or high school diploma, and ability to operate emergency equipment and vehicles. This is a full-time, 250-day position with an hourly salary range as posted.

Qualifications

• Must be POST certified as a police officer.
• Police academy or security procedures training completed.
• Ability to operate emergency equipment, weapons, and motor vehicles.
• Ability to prepare accurate and concise written reports.

Responsibilities

• Enforces district regulations to ensure student, staff, and property safety.
• Maintains high visibility on campus to deter incidents.
• Investigates burglaries, thefts, arson, trespass and assaults; writes reports.
• Interviews, arrests, transports, books, and advises suspects of rights.
• Responds to alarms and follows safety standards; performs other duties.
