Job summary

Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice in Savannah seeks a School Resource Officer to maintain security and order in a detention facility educational setting. Under supervision, you will perform a full range of law enforcement duties and provide security clearance for students entering secure areas.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and Georgia P.O.S.T. Basic Mandate Training; preferred candidates hold POST certification (PBLE) and have supervisory or SRO experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and successful completion of Georgia P.O.S.T. Basic Mandate Law Enforcement Training.
• GAPOST certification (PBLE) is preferred.
• Two or more years of supervisory experience in police or investigative work is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs law enforcement duties to maintain security and order in a detention facility educational setting.
• Provide security clearance for students entering secure areas and during breaks.
• Conduct classrooms and hallways walkthroughs and address disruptive behavior.
• Facilitate safety drills and monitor security equipment and cameras.
