Job summary

Shelby County Schools is seeking a cafeteria worker to assist in preparing and serving nutritious meals for students and staff. You will follow recipes, assemble ingredients, cook, serve, and help with bag lunches.

You will monitor cooking times for safety, maintain clean work areas, assist with stocking, and may operate a point-of-sale terminal. A high school diploma or GED and a background check are required; six months of related experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with quantity food preparation preferred.
• Background check and TB test requirements apply.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items for student and staff meals following recipes and schedules.
• Monitor cooking times/temperatures to ensure safety and sanitation.
• Set up serving lines, serve meals, and maintain clean areas.
• May operate a point-of-sale terminal as cashier when needed.
• Attend trainings and provide courteous service to customers.
