Job summary

Shelby County Schools is seeking a cafeteria staff member to assist in the efficient operation of the school nutrition program. You will prepare and serve nutritious meals, maintain sanitary work areas, and support inventory and cashier tasks as needed.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, a background check, and a TB test. A minimum of six months' experience in quantity food preparation is required to ensure safe, timely service for students and staff.

• Background check and TB test negative required.
• Minimum six months of quantity food preparation or related experience.
• Ability to operate a point-of-sale terminal if cashier duties are involved.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals to students and staff following recipes and schedules.
• Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure safety and HACCP compliance.
• Set up serving lines and maintain cleanliness of serving areas and equipment.
• Assist with stocking supplies and inventory, and handle cashier duties if needed.
