Washington County Public Schools seeks a Custodian for Smithsburg High School to maintain facilities and perform cleaning and basic maintenance tasks. The role operates on an 8‑hour, 12‑month schedule with a 2nd shift and reports to the Facilities Operations Manager.

Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and the ability to perform heavy manual work, with a preference for prior commercial cleaning or mechanical/carpentry experience.

Formación

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent qualification.
• Capable of performing heavy manual tasks and following instructions.
• Willingness to participate in in-service training.
• Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodations.

Responsabilidades

• Perform cleaning of school facilities using hand or mechanical tools.
• Provide a presence to deter theft and protect school property.
• Assist with minor emergency repairs when needed.
• Care for and check heating/air conditioning systems as scheduled.
• Clean and care for grounds and inventory custodial equipment.
• Keep records of work and restock supplies as necessary.
• Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
