Job summary

Harford County Public Schools is seeking a Custodian I – Shift 2 at Church Creek School in Bel Air, MD. This full-time, twelve-month position performs routine cleaning, maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds and equipment, with opportunities for growth within the district.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED preferred; at least ninth grade with testing as needed; one year custodial experience preferred; ability to lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders; valid driver's license

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum ninth grade education required; testing may assess reading and instructions.
• One year custodial experience preferred.
• Physically able to perform essential functions including lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing ladders.
• Valid driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Selects equipment and sweeps and cleans floors in assigned areas.
• Uses custodial equipment such as mops, vacuums, buffers, and cleaning supplies.
• Collects and disposes of trash and garbage.
• Unloads supplies and places them in storage areas.
• Moves furniture and heavy items up to 50 pounds.
• Maintains cleanliness of lavatories and wash areas.
• Cleans windows and light fixtures and works at heights as needed.
• Cleans and polishes desks and classroom equipment.
• Assists with snow removal and lawn/playground maintenance as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
