Job summary

Durango Big Picture High School in Durango, CO is hiring a Cook/Custodian for a 27.5-hour work week (7:30am–1:30pm, Monday–Friday) as part of the Durango School District 9-R. The role blends food service with custodial duties and includes a full health and dental insurance package.

Employee workforce housing is available for the 2026/2027 school year, and staff hired to the district may receive a $1,237.50 one-time bonus (pro-rated for late start).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Kitchen prep or cooking experience preferred.
• Criminal Background Check required for hire, First Aid/CPR/AED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing food for National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs using safe handling procedures.
• Stock and set up serving line and equipment for meals.
• Sanitize dishes, equipment, floors, and tables after meals.
• Operate the lunch POS system and serve as cashier.
• Assist with ordering, storing, and inventorying food and supplies.
• Perform cleaning and maintenance of kitchen and custodial areas.
