Job summary

Durango School District is seeking a Cook at Riverview Elementary School. The four-hour-per-day position includes part-time benefits and a $900 one-time sign-on bonus for staff newly hired to the district (pro-rated for late start).

Housing may be available for the 2026/2027 school year. Responsibilities include food preparation and service, cashiering, inventory, and maintaining a clean kitchen in a school lunch program environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Kitchen prep or cooking experience preferred.
• First Aid/CPR training preferred; Criminal Background Check required for hire.
• Ability to cashier and handle money.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food for the National School Lunch Program.
• Stock and set up the serving line and equipment.
• Sanitize dishes and kitchen areas following service.
• Operate the POS lunch system and serve as the cashier.
• Assist with ordering and inventory of food and supplies.
• Open/close kitchen prep including cleaning and storage.
• Cross-train in all positions.
• Engage in ongoing professional development.
