Job summary

Durango High School is seeking a Cook to assist in the cafeteria, preparing and serving meals and maintaining kitchen operations. The role runs seven hours per day with full-time benefits and includes responsibilities such as cashiering and basic inventory duties.

Experience in kitchen prep or cooking is preferred; education requires a high school diploma or equivalent. A one-time signing bonus of $1,575 is offered for staff newly hired to the district, pro-rated if starting late.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Kitchen experience in food service preferred.
• First Aid/CPR/AED training preferred; background check required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Cafeteria Manager with food prep and service for the National School Lunch Program.
• Stock serving line and equipment for meals.
• Sanitize dishes, equipment, floors, and tables after service.
• Operate POS lunch system and act as cashier.
• Assist with ordering, inventory, and storage of food and supplies.
• Assist with opening/closing kitchen operations and stocking.
