Job summary

Durango School District is seeking a Cook for Escalante Middle School in Durango, CO. The role supports the Cafeteria Manager by preparing and serving meals, maintaining the kitchen, and handling cash and inventory.

Starting asap with a typical 9-month work year. Includes a one-time bonus for new staff and workforce housing available for the 2026/2027 year. Salary details shown below, Part-Time position with a non-exempt status.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in kitchen prep or food service preferred.
• First Aid/CPR/AED training preferred.
• Criminal Background Check required for hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food on the lunch line using safe food handling procedures.
• Stock and set up the serving line and equipment.
• Sanitize dishes, equipment, floors, and tables after meals.
• Wash tables in the commons area after meals.
• Cross-train in all positions, including manager.
• Operate the POS lunch system and cashier.
• Assist with ordering, storing, and inventorying food and supplies.
• Open/close kitchen preparations and stocking of inventory.
• Engage in ongoing professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
