Job summary

Elizabeth Public Schools seeks a Computer Technician in Elizabeth, New Jersey to install, repair, and maintain end-user computer equipment across schools. You will interact with customers, manage tickets, and ensure systems run smoothly.

Qualifications include an associate degree or equivalent experience, A+ certification, and experience with Windows XP/2000 and Office suites. A valid driver’s license and ability to lift 60 lbs are required. Immediate start with a 12-month term.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in MIS or technology field or equivalent.
• Four years of related work experience may substitute for an Associate Degree; high school diploma or equivalent also acceptable.
• A+ certification.
• Two years of experience with Windows XP/2000 operating systems.
• Two years of experience with Microsoft Office XP, 2000, 2003 and 2007.
• Knowledge of Novell.
• Must lift equipment up to 60lbs.
• Must have a current driver’s license and vehicle.
• Strong communication skills and criminal history/background check required.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with customers in a courteous and professional manner in person, over the phone, or by email.
• Performs computer installation, repair work and maintenance on all computers, printers, scanners, and other end user equipment.
• Inspects equipment, reads orders, prepares equipment for delivery and installation.
• Uses call center software to manage trouble tickets.
• Maintains software media and hardware inventory.
• Documents installation, repair, and maintenance work and tags equipment.
• Ensures work complies with departmental guidelines.
• Supports software: Office XP/2000/2003/2007 and Windows OS 2000/XP/Vista.
• Contacts Network Control Center for internal support.
• Monitors help desk queue and assigns tickets.
• Supports and troubleshoots computer problems in the schools.
