Job summary

Montgomery County Educational Service Center is seeking a Maintenance worker to uphold the cleanliness, safety, and operability of school facilities. The role involves basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical tasks, along with equipment inspections and minor repairs.

Responsibilities include HVAC regulation, snow/ice removal, and ensuring secure building access. Frequent travel between sites may be required, with an hourly wage range of $25.09 to $32.21.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of fundamental tools, materials, practices, maintenance, methods and procedures in carpentry, plumbing and electrical trades.
• Knowledge of building code conformance standards for carpentry, plumbing, electricity, electrical installation and repair.
• Knowledge of occupational safety and health laws and regulations.
• Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor and coordinate work with others.

Responsibilities

• Performs tasks to keep school buildings and grounds in orderly, neat, and clean condition (trash removal, bathrooms, floors, windows, mowing).
• Maintains buildings and grounds in safe, operable condition; performs minor repairs and snow/ice removal.
• Inspects equipment and facilities and recommends repair or replacement action to supervisor.
• Regulates HVAC to maintain appropriate temperatures and economical use of fuel, water and electricity.
• Opens/closes building and ensures doors/windows are secured before leaving.
