Job summary

The Custodian contributes to the effective operation of the Operations Services Department within the Halifax Regional Centre for Education. The custodian maintains a clean, sanitary and attractive appearance of school buildings and facilities.

This is accomplished by performing cleaning and maintenance duties in a professional, efficient, proactive and safe manner within the policies and procedures of the Department and the Centre.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs to perform cleaning duties.
• Basic computer skills are expected.
• Must be able to work day, evening and night shifts.
• Previous janitorial experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning and maintenance duties to keep facilities clean, sanitary and attractive.
• Operate in a professional, efficient, proactive and safe manner per department policies.
• Report to the Caretaker and follow directions of Building Management Supervisor.
