Job summary

Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) is seeking a Caretaker to support the Operations Services Department in maintaining a clean, safe, and well-maintained school facility. You will supervise staff and oversee daily operations to ensure a sanitary and attractive environment for students and users.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, custodial experience, the ability to lift 50 lbs, and flexibility to work day, evening, and night shifts. SAP knowledge is considered an asset.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum two years HRCE custodial experience or three years alternate janitorial experience.
• Ability to lift 50lbs to perform cleaning duties.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook).
• Experience completing routine and preventative maintenance.
• Able to work day, evening and night shifts.
• Knowledge of SAP is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and supervise daily operations of the Operations Services Department for the facility.
• Ensure overall cleanliness, maintenance and security of the school facility.
• Supervise assigned staff.
• Perform duties professionally, proactively and with quality.
• Contribute to building appearance for users.
