Job summary

The Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) is seeking a Caretaker to oversee daily operations of the school facility, ensuring cleanliness, safety and a welcoming environment for students and staff. The role includes supervising custodial staff, performing routine and preventative maintenance, and managing building security in collaboration with the Building Management Supervisor.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, custodial experience, ability to lift 50 lbs, and proficiency

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum two years HRCE custodial experience or three years alternate janitorial experience or a combination of both for three years.
Ability to lift 50lbs to perform a full range of cleaning and janitorial duties.
Experience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook);
Experience completing routine and preventative maintenance;
Able to work all shift schedules including day, evening and nights;
Knowledge of SAP considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of the designated facility.
Ensure cleanliness, safety, sanitary and attractive appearance of the building for users.
Supervise assigned custodial staff.
Maintain building security in collaboration with supervisor.
Report to the Building Management Supervisor.
