Job summary

Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) is seeking a Custodian to contribute to the effective operation of the Operations Services Department. The custodian will maintain a clean, sanitary and attractive appearance of school buildings and facilities, performing cleaning and maintenance duties safely and efficiently.

The position reports to the Caretaker and Building Management Supervisor, with hours potentially adjusted to accommodate operational requirements and multiple part-time

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required or equivalent.
• Ability to lift 50lbs to perform cleaning and janitorial duties.
• Basic computer skills.
• Able to work day, evening and night shifts.
• Previous janitorial experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean, sanitary, and attractive school facilities.
• Perform cleaning and maintenance duties in a professional, efficient, proactive and safe manner.
• Report to the Caretaker and Building Management Supervisor.
