Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties in classrooms, hallways, restrooms and offices across a K-12 or higher education campus.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required and on the job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• Preferred qualifications: Prior customer service experience.
• One (1) year of prior similar work experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned area, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices and stairways.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas.
• Regularly check trash receptacles and empty as needed.
• Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager about repairs or additions to building systems.
• Establish and maintain communication with clients, co-workers and supervisors.
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
• Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceiling and walls.
• Polish hard surfaces such as woodwork and stainless steel.
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets and equipment to access areas to clean.
• Clean interior partition glass, windows and mirrors.
