Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning at K-12 or higher education campuses. The role involves cleaning classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas, with routine trash disposal and adherence to safety standards.

No high school diploma required; on-the-job training provided. Prior customer service experience is a plus, and military-friendly employment is emphasized by ABM.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required and on the job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Prior customer service experience.
• One year of prior similar work experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned area, which may include classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, office, and stairways
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills and mop floors in designated areas
• Regularly check trash receptacles, emptying as needed, in all designated areas
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
• Notify lead cleaner or manager concerning repairs or additions to building systems
• Establish and maintain effective communication with clients, co-workers, shift coordinators, supervisors, managers
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles
• Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceiling, and walls
• Polish hard surfaces such as woodwork and stainless steel
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas
• Clean interior glass, windows, mirrors using cleaners, sponges, and squeegees
• Sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, snow removal or other seasonal tasks
• Maintain the cleanliness of restrooms
• Comply with safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures
