Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a Custodian to perform routine cleaning of school buildings and grounds, with hands-on training in cleaning tools, equipment, and safety procedures. You will learn to maintain classrooms, cafeterias, and common areas and support events throughout the school day.

Daily duties include cleaning cafeterias, classrooms, bathrooms, and hallways, moving furniture, washing desks, and ensuring doors are secured at the end of the day.

Qualifications

• GED or some high school required.
• High School Diploma preferred; custodial experience beneficial.
• Basic ability to read and follow directions in English.

Responsibilities

• Clean cafeteria after lunch, wipe tables, mop floors.
• Pick up paper and trash in bathrooms and hallways; clean spills.
• Clean classrooms, hallways, and common areas; set up for events.
• Lock and secure classrooms and exterior doors at day end.
• Assist with setup for PTA, meetings, and special events.
• Perform related custodial duties as needed.
