Job summary

Washoe County School District is seeking a Custodian to keep buildings clean, safe and orderly. Responsibilities include floor care, restroom sanitation, and securing areas.

The role may involve early morning, morning, afternoon, evening or night shifts during the school year. Candidates should have basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills, plus six months of reliable work experience and the ability to follow written and spoken instructions.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience demonstrating reliability and good work habits.
• Knowledge of reading, writing and arithmetic sufficient to perform duties; cleaning materials, methods and equipment.
• Skill at understanding and carrying out oral and written instructions; learning supplies, equipment and methods; working under time constraints.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, scrub, wax floors and clean surfaces; vacuum rugs and clean restrooms, etc.
• Move furniture and set up rooms for events; ensure doors/windows are locked and alarms activated.
• Perform minor maintenance such as painting small areas; report needed repairs and vandalism.
• Assist with summer cleaning and removal of furniture; wash walls and floors and seal waxed floors.
• Handle on/off hours for emergencies as needed.
