Job summary

The Washoe County School District is seeking a Custodian (Education Support Professionals) to maintain clean, sanitary and safe facilities, secure rooms and assist with special cleaning. Work shifts may include early morning, morning, afternoon, evening or night during the school year.

Duties include floor care, vacuuming, dusting, restroom sanitation and light maintenance; setup for events; and reporting needed repairs.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of experience demonstrating reliability, responsibility and good work habits.
• Knowledge of reading, writing and basic arithmetic; plus cleaning materials, methods and equipment.
• Skill at understanding and carrying out oral and written instructions; learning supplies, equipment and prescribed methods of cleaning; ability to perform strenuous physical work.
• License to Nevada or ability to obtain valid state license with acceptable driving record.
• Special considerations include working under occasional adverse environmental conditions (heat, cold, dust, fumes).

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, shampoos, and waxes floors and cleans various surfaces.
• Moves furniture and sets up rooms for events; ensures doors/windows are locked and alarms on.
• Performs minor maintenance and reporting of needed repairs; may perform outside maintenance such as snow removal.
• Participates in intensive cleaning and restoration during school breaks; washes walls and floors as needed.
• Responds to school emergencies during off-hours as required.
