Job summary

Cherry Creek School District in Colorado is seeking a School Crossing Guard to guide or control vehicular and pedestrian traffic at streets and schools. The hourly, non-exempt role reports to the principal or designee and requires staying within crosswalks and signaling drivers to protect students.

Duties include directing traffic, escorting pedestrians, monitoring safe gaps, communicating crossing rules, and reporting incidents to the principal.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Wear appropriate clothing such as light colored slacks, light colored shirts, and a safety vest.
• Must meet all Colorado Department of Transportation minimum qualifications: detailed physical and behavioral requirements, no tobacco or alcohol on duty, no mobile devices except emergencies, etc.

Responsibilities

• Direct or escort pedestrians across streets, staying within crosswalks.
• Monitor traffic flow to locate safe gaps for crossing.
• Communicate traffic and crossing rules to students and adults.
• Distribute traffic control signs and markers at designated points.
• Direct traffic movement or warn of hazards using signs, flags, lanterns, and hand signals.
• Report incidents involving students to the building principal.
• Record license numbers of vehicles disregarding signals and report infractions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
