Job summary

The Cherry Creek School District is seeking a dedicated crossing guard to help students safely cross streets around campuses. This hourly, part-time position focuses on directing pedestrians, stopping traffic when needed, and maintaining orderly crossings in all weather.

Responsibilities include guiding pedestrians within crosswalks, monitoring traffic gaps, communicating crossing rules to students and staff, and reporting incidents to the principal.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Wear light-colored clothing and safety vest.
• Meet all Colorado Department of Transportation minimum qualifications.
• Intermediate knowledge of bicycle/pedestrian practices.
• Must follow conduct rules while on duty.
• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required.

Responsibilities

• Direct or escort pedestrians across streets, stopping traffic as necessary.
• Monitor traffic flow to locate safe gaps for crossing.
• Communicate crossing rules and information to students and adults.
• Distribute traffic control signs and markers at designated points.
• Direct traffic movement or warn of hazards using signs and signals.
• Report incidents involving students to the principal.
• Record license numbers of vehicles disregarding signals and report infractions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
