Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a professional school counselor to join its educational leadership team. The role provides comprehensive, developmental supports across academic, personal/social, and career domains to help students achieve success.

The counselor will design and implement a district-aligned counseling program, conduct annual needs assessments, collaborate with families and staff, and support crisis response while upholding equity across the building.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in school counseling is required.
• ISBE PEL with School Counseling Endorsement is required.

Responsibilities

• Create, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with CPS REACH Framework.
• Conduct annual needs assessments and data reviews to identify and prioritize student needs.
• Design, deliver, and co-teach the School Counseling Core Curriculum across classroom, large group, and school-wide settings.
• Provide individual student planning and advisement to ensure diploma and postsecondary options.
• Offer indirect student support and collaborate with families, teachers, and external partners.
• Coordinate system-wide activities and participate in regular professional development.

ISBE Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Counseling Endorsement
