Job summary

Bowling Green Independent Schools is seeking a Substitute Cook/Baker to support the district's food service program in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This role prepares, cooks, bakes and serves a variety of foods in quantity at an assigned school site, following health and safety guidelines.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, one year of cooking and baking large quantities, and completion of training for beginning school food personnel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year cooking and baking experience in large quantities.
• Training course for certification of beginning school food personnel required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and bake rolls, biscuits, breads, cakes, cookies and other baked goods for school meals.
• Prepare and cook meat dishes, vegetables and other main dishes for serving to students and staff.
• Assist in determining quantities and adjust recipes while maintaining quality and nutrition.
• Monitor temperatures and sanitation to ensure food safety during preparation and serving.
• Serve meals according to guidelines and replenish serving containers as needed; handle money as required.
• Maintain kitchen sanitation and safety procedures; assist with inventory and records.
