The role serves as the main liaison among drivers, school staff, and parents, providing real-time updates and problem-solving. The dispatcher will monitor traffic and weather, adjust schedules, and maintain accurate transportation records, while ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in logistics or related field preferred.
• Experience in dispatch, transportation, or logistics preferred.
• CDL Class B with passenger and school bus certification required.
• Pre-employment drug screening and physical exam required.
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background and Family Care Safety Registry clearance required.
• Annual in-service training and drug/alcohol testing program participation.

Responsibilities

• Plan, assign, and adjust bus routes and schedules to meet student needs and programs.
• Coordinate drivers and buses for scheduled runs and field trips to ensure on-time service.
• Monitor traffic, weather, and conditions and adjust schedules accordingly.
• Maintain records of routes, schedules, driver assignments, and attendance.
• Serve as primary contact for drivers, school officials, and parents regarding issues.
• Provide timely communication to parents and staff on delays or emergencies.
• Use dispatch software, radios, and phone systems for clear driver communication.
• Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations and safety standards.
