Job summary

Gersh Autism Academy in West Hempstead, NY seeks a compassionate Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to work with students aged 5–21 under BCBA supervision. You will provide one-on-one instruction, collect data, implement BIPs and IEPs, and support social and academic development in a school setting.

Must hold an active RBT certification from BACB and a high school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s preferred).

Qualifications

• Current RBT certification from the BACB is required and must be active.
• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience with students with ASD or in a special education setting is desirable.
• Ability to implement BIPs/IEPs and collect accurate data under BCBA guidance.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; patient and professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Implement behavior intervention plans and IEPs as directed by the BCBA.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support in classroom and school settings.
• Collect and record data on student behaviors and progress with accuracy.
• Support teaching strategies for academic, social, and behavioral development.
• Use behavior management techniques to reduce challenging behaviors and promote adaptive skills.
• Assist students with daily living, communication, and self-regulation tasks.
• Collaborate with staff to create a supportive learning environment.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and supervision sessions.
