Job summary

Gersh Autism Academy in Bronx, NY, seeks a compassionate Behavior Technician (Paraprofessional) to support students with autism in a year‑round school program. You will work directly with students, assisting with academics and behavior goals under the guidance of teachers and behavior analysts.

This full‑time role offers growth through completing the RBT certification, collaboration with a dedicated team, data collection, and ongoing training to promote safe, structured learning environments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred in education/psychology.
• Experience with children with autism is a plus.
• Willingness to pursue RBT certification within a specified time frame.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in implementing IEPs and BIPs for students with autism.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, promoting academic, social, and behavioral growth.
• Help students with daily tasks, including communication, social interaction, and self-management.
• Prepare materials and assist with routines to support student learning and transitions.
• Collect and document data on student performance, behavior, and progress toward goals.
• Collaborate with teachers and behavioral specialists to maintain a positive, structured learning environment.
• Communicate progress and challenges to the teaching team.
