Job summary

Gersh Autism in Long Island City, NY seeks a Behavior Technician (Paraprofessional) to support students with autism in classroom and behavioral settings. This full-time, 12-month role focuses on implementing IEPs/BIPs and promoting student growth.

You will provide 1:1 and small group support, collaborate with teachers, and contribute to data collection and progress documentation while pursuing RBT certification as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.
• Experience with children with autism or special needs is a plus but not required.
• Willingness to pursue RBT certification within specified timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing IEPs and behavior intervention plans for students with autism.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to promote academic and social growth.
• Support daily tasks including communication, social interaction and self-management.
• Prepare materials and transitions for daily activities and end-of-day routines.
• Collaborate with teachers and behavioral specialists to maintain a structured learning environment.
• Document data on student progress and behaviors for program planning.
