Job summary

Gersh Autism in Huntington, NY seeks a compassionate Behavior Technician (Paraprofessional) to work with students aged 5–21 in a year-round school program. You will support classroom teachers, implement IEP/BIP strategies, and help students with communication and self-management skills.

Responsibilities include data collection, collaboration with the behavior team, and ongoing professional development. This role offers full-time hours and growth toward RBT certification within the program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with children, especially with autism or special needs, is a plus.
• Willingness to pursue RBT certification within a specified time frame.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with IEPs and BIPs for students with autism.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to promote academic, social, and behavioral growth.
• Help students with daily tasks and communication, social interaction, and self-management skills.
• Prepare materials and assist students to transition between activities.
• Support students during classroom activities, field trips, and events.
• Implement behavior plan strategies to promote self-regulation.
• Collect data on student performance and progress toward goals.
• Collaborate with teachers and behavior specialists to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Communicate progress and challenges with school staff.
• Participate in daily training sessions with behavioral analysts.
