Job summary

YMCA of Central New York is seeking a School Age Child Care Substitute to support after-school programs in Syracuse area. This part-time role requires planning activities, supervising children, and upholding YMCA values.

You will work under the Child Care Director in multiple districts, with 6:45-9 am and 2:45-6 pm shifts as needed. The position emphasizes safety, engagement, and positive guidance for ages 5–12.

Qualifications

• Working towards, or having a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Substantial experience working with children under 13 years of age.
• Excellent organizational and communications skills both verbal and written.
• Maturity, responsibility and sincere interest in working with people.
• Knowledge of YMCA goals and mission.
• Knowledge of age appropriate activities for children ages 5 to 12.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and lead daily SACC program activities.
• Familiarize with YMCA objectives and curriculum for planning activities.
• Observe and follow OCFS guidelines and YMCA policies.
• Report to the program on time and stay until dismissal and space is cleaned.
• Provide a safe, healthy, moral and fun environment for children.
• Maintain positive role model and foster YMCA values of respect and honesty.
• Assist with snacks per HEPA guidelines and family-style dining.
