Job summary

YMCA of Central New York is seeking a Site Assistant for the School Age Child Care program. You will support daily activities, arts, music, and games under the Site Coordinator, ensuring safety and compliance with NYS OCFS rules.

A strong emphasis on character development and community involvement is expected. The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent and a genuine interest in working with children ages 5–12.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old (some sites may require 18).
• Excellent organizational and communications skills (verbal and written) are essential.
• Maturity, responsibility and a sincere interest in working with people.
• Knowledge of various resources for programming ideas and the skills to utilize that information.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate activities and expectations of children ages 5 to 12.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Site Coordinator in planning lesson plans including arts, music, drama, games, sports and other activities.
• Observe NYS OCFS guidelines and ensure compliant programming.
• Greets children and parents by name and promotes family events and retention.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized site and environment; follow policies and procedures.
• Report accidents and communicate with parents as needed; attend staff meetings and trainings.
