Job summary

The YMCA of Central New York is seeking a Site Assistant for the School Age Child Care program. The role supports a wide range of activities from arts and crafts to quiet study, ensuring safety and adherence to licensing requirements.

The position emphasizes strong communication, reliability, and positive role modeling in a busy afterschool setting. Responsibilities include coordinating activities with the Site Coordinator, maintaining order, logging incidents, and assisting with family events.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Substantial experience working with children under 13.
• Excellent organizational and communications skills.
• Bring maturity, responsibility and a sincere interest in working with people.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Site Coordinator in planning and developing lesson plans including arts & crafts, music and drama, games, sports and other activities.
• Observe and follow program guidelines and NYS OCFS regulations.
• Greet children and parents by name and extend thanks when appropriate.
• Assist in promoting and leading the School Age annual family events and retention initiatives.
• Report to work on time and stay until all children have left; conduct program in the Site Coordinator's absence.
