Job summary

The YMCA of Central New York is seeking a Site Assistant to support the School Age Child Care program under the Director's guidance. Responsibilities include planning activities, arts and crafts, music, games, drama, and quiet time while ensuring safety and positive development for children ages 5 to 12.

Employment requires NY OCFS clearance steps, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to work varied hours including ½ days, snow days, and vacation camps.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Substantial experience working with children under 13 is preferred.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential.
• Maturity, responsibility and genuine interest in working with people.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Site Coordinator in planning and developing lesson plans including arts, crafts, music, drama, games and science activities.
• Observe program guidelines and ensure safe, healthy activities for children.
• Greets children and parents by name when possible and extends thanks when appropriate.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; follow YMCA policies and procedures.
