Job summary

YMCA of Central New York is seeking a School Age Child Care Site Assistant in Cazenovia, NY. The role supports daily activities, ensures a safe and engaging environment for children aged 5–12, and works with the Site Coordinator to implement lesson plans and program activities.

The position is part-time, 2:00 pm–5:00 pm, Monday–Friday, at Burton Street Elementary School with a pay rate of $15.50 per hour. A background in youth programming and a genuine interest in developing kids is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Substantial experience working with children under 13.
• Must be at least 16 years of age (some sites may require 18).
• Excellent organizational and communications skills both verbal and written.
• Bring maturity, responsibility and a sincere interest in working with people.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate activities for ages 5–12.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Site Coordinator in planning and developing lesson plans that include arts & crafts, music, drama, games, sports and other activities.
• Observe and follow program guidelines and regulations set by NYS OCFS.
• Greets children and parents by name when possible and extend thanks.
• Promote and lead the School Age annual family event and retention initiatives.
• Report to work at designated times and stay until all children are dismissed.
• Conduct the program in the Site Coordinator's absence.
• Maintain a clean, organized site and provide a safe environment.
• Attend staff meetings and complete required trainings.
