Job summary

The YMCA School Age Care program is seeking Lead Program Staff (age 18+) to join our team. This Monday–Friday role includes a free Y membership, strong benefits, professional growth opportunities, and the chance to make a meaningful impact every day.

You will lead engaging activities for kids in grades K–5—arts & crafts, gym games, STEM projects, service learning, and field trips—while supporting staff and creating a fun, positive environment.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with parents and staff.
• Ability to organize activities and manage multiple tasks in a childcare setting.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and teamwork abilities relevant to school-age programs.
• Commitment to inclusive, youth-focused recreation and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist Site Director with planning, supervising, and implementing program activities.
• Travel locally to YMCA branches and other program sites as needed.
• Promote the program through calendars, emails, and parent communications.
• Provide work direction to program staff and assist with training.
• Evaluate the program and recommend changes to the Site Director.
• Keep the site clean and organized and handle administrative tasks.
• Maintain DCYF certified center requirements and meal regulations when applicable.
• Support supervision of staff and ensure safety during activities.
