Job summary

St. Paul Midway YMCA is seeking a Lead Program Staff to guide School Age Care at a St. Paul site. The role runs Monday–Friday, 6:30AM–9:15AM and 2:00–6:00PM, with no evenings or weekends. Salary is $17.50/hr, with a strong benefits package and opportunities for professional growth.

Lead staff will plan and lead engaging activities for K–5, support staff, and ensure care aligns with YMCA values. Minimum 18 years old, 6 months relevant experience, and certifications required or obtainable.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 or older.
• At least 6 months of experience with school-aged children or SAC staff.
• Background check and state fingerprints required on hire.
• CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Knowledge of child development and recreational programming.
• Willingness to work with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Assist Site Director with planning, supervision, and program activities.
• Lead activities at a school-age site including crafts, games, STEM, and field trips.
• Travel locally to YMCA branches and other program sites as needed.
• Provide work direction to staff and assist with training and supervision.
• Maintain program records and support meal and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure a clean, organized site and safe, inclusive environment.
