Job summary

YMCA is seeking Jr. Program staff to assist with supervising a safe and well-organized childcare program at a designated site. Plan and participate in group activities with children and help maintain a positive environment.

The role requires CPR/AED/O2 and First Aid certification, a high school diploma or GED (18+), and willingness to complete required trainings within 30 days. 16–17 year olds may apply for Jr. positions.

Qualifications

  • Must stay current in CPR/AED/O2 and First Aid, renewed annually.
  • Must have an interest in and like children and exemplify YMCA philosophy.
  • Must complete all required Redwoods trainings within 30 days of hire and renew annually.
  • Must be 18 years of age, have high school diploma or GED.
  • Jr. Program staff may be 16-17 yrs of age.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with supervising a safe and well-organized childcare program by planning and participating in-group activities with children at a designated childcare site.
  • Establish a positive relationship with the program participants.
  • Plan weekly activities for a group of 10-15 children.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children.
  • Lead games and activities.
  • Take daily attendance and ensure sign-in/out by a responsible party.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings.
  • Display YMCA character values at all times.
