Job summary

Old Colony YMCA in Whitman, MA seeks a Site Coordinator for the Conley Elementary School Age program. You will lead daily activities, support a team of assistants, and foster a welcoming, safe environment for children and families.

You’ll plan engaging activities, maintain records, ensure compliance with EEC and YMCA policies, and support enrollment through strong teamwork and positive leadership. Pay ranges $20.50–$25.00 per hour; multiple locations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 20 years of age.
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 9 months of experience working with school-age children OR a high school diploma/equivalent with at least 1 year of experience working with school-age children.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.
  • Evidence of a physical examination within the past 12 months.
  • Negative Mantoux TB test and documentation of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella, as required.
  • Ability to create and maintain a culture of excellence while working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment and assist with cleaning and program set-up as needed.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional early mornings, and evenings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to speak publicly when needed.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, move throughout the program environment, and lift up to 75 pounds occasionally and 40 pounds frequently, including assisting with children when necessary.
  • Ability to understand and support the YMCA's three areas of focus: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
  • Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to the needs of children and families participating in the program.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, implement, and maintain compliance with all EEC regulations and Old Colony YMCA policies.
  • Plan, develop, and implement engaging, age-appropriate program curriculum in accordance with EEC regulations and Old Colony YMCA policies.
  • Develop programming that recognizes and supports the individual needs of each child, including their interests, abilities, disabilities, special talents, cultural backgrounds, and individual learning styles and pace.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of daily activities, including: Y Chat, Homework Help, STEM activities, Arts and crafts, Group games and activities, Long-term projects, Program set-up and clean-up.
  • Assist with staffing at other school-age locations and full-day programs when needed.
  • Supervise children throughout all program areas, field trips, special events, and other program activities.
  • Act as a positive role model for children, staff, and families.
  • Maintain a positive and supportive environment while ensuring appropriate child behavior and strict adherence to YMCA Child Guidance and Child Care policies.
  • Communicate promptly and professionally with parents, school personnel, potential clients, and community partners.
  • Represent and promote YMCA programs through public appearances, presentations, and positive interactions with families and the community.
  • Complete and maintain all required documentation, including accident reports, incident reports, attendance records, and other program paperwork.
  • Create and provide weekly staff schedules and meeting agendas as needed.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and ensure all required reports and paperwork are completed and submitted appropriately.
  • Meet with the School Age Director as directed.
  • Provide leadership during weekly site staff meetings and monthly School Age meetings.
  • Coordinate with the YMCA office as needed to collect supplies, exchange paperwork, and complete other administrative tasks.
  • Collect, record, receipt, and manage payments and billing according to the YMCA parent payment schedule and established procedures.
  • Support ongoing professional development by participating in training, conferences, courses, and other professional growth opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with school personnel and other site-specific partners.
