Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Assistant for Marian E. McKeown Elementary School in Newton, NJ. This part-time, non-exempt role operates during morning (7:00–8:15) and/or afternoon (3:00–6:00) runs aligned with the school calendar.

Earn $16.00 per hour with employer-paid childcare benefits and multiple part-time options. Applicants should be able to meet physical demands and pass background checks; prior childcare experience is preferred but not required.

• Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum (fitness, STEAM, art, academics, homework).
• Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and serve as a positive role model.
• Observe state guidelines and program policies.
• Some roles may include attendance, registration, and staffing duties.

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Assistant for our Before and After School Programs at Marian E. McKeown Elementary School for the 2026–2027 school year.

Position Responsibilities

• Facilitating hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum which includes fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities as well as homework completion.
• Providing a safe, healthy, and fun environment and acting as a positive role model for children in the program.
• Observing state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
• Certain positions may also perform management functions such as accurate attendance records, registration, and staffing.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma and/or 1 year of childcare experience preferred but not required

Qualifications

• Candidates must successfully pass all required state background checks.
• Requires the ability to meet physical demands, including bending, stretching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds, and actively engaging with energetic children.
• The ideal candidate demonstrates a positive, professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills when working with children, families, and colleagues, along with a consistent record of reliability and punctuality.
