Job summary

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring School Age Childcare Assistants for Marian E. McKeown Elementary School in Newton, NJ for the 2026–2027 school year. The role supports before and after school programs with opportunities for morning, afternoon, or both.

Pay is $16.00 per hour, part-time and non-exempt. Benefits include employer-paid childcare and additional voluntary coverages. Morning and afternoon shifts align with the school day and provide meaningful engagement with children.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and/or 1 year of childcare experience preferred but not required.
• Pass all required state background checks.
• Physical ability to bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Positive, professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate hands-on activities per the Healthy Kids Curriculum, including fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and homework.
• Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and model positive behavior.
• Observe state guidelines and host policies; follow program rules.
• Some positions may handle attendance, registration, and staffing.

PAY: $16.00 per hour

SCHEDULE: Follows the school calendar

Morning Program: 7:00 - 8:15 am

Afternoon Program: 3:00 - 6:00 pm

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring School Age Childcare Assistants for our Before and After School Programs at Marian E. McKeown Elementary School in Newton, NJ for the 2026–2027 school year.

Position Responsibilities

The Before and After School Program team is responsible for:

• Facilitating hands‑on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum which includes fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities as well as homework completion.
• Providing a safe, healthy, and fun environment and acting as a positive role model for children in the program.
• Observing state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
• Certain positions may also perform management functions such as accurate attendance records, registration, and staffing.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma and/or 1 year of childcare experience preferred but not required

Qualifications

• Candidates must successfully pass all required state background checks.
• Requires the ability to meet physical demands, including bending, stretching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds, and actively engaging with energetic children.
• The ideal candidate demonstrates a positive, professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills when working with children, families, and colleagues, along with a consistent record of reliability and punctuality.
