Healthy Kids Programs is seeking a School-Age Childcare Assistant for our Before and After School Programs at Frelinghuysen Elementary School in Newton, NJ for the 2026-2027 school year.

This part-time, non-exempt role follows the school calendar with morning and/or afternoon sessions. The position emphasizes safe, engaging activities, positive role modeling, and partnering with families to support student growth while offering employer-paid childcare benefits.

Qualifications

• Must pass all required state background checks.
• Must meet physical demands including bending, stretching, lifting up to 50 pounds and active engagement with children.
• Positive, professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills, reliability, and punctuality.

Responsabilités

• Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum (fitness, STEAM, academic, art, homework).
• Provide a safe, healthy, and engaging environment and model positive behavior.
• Observe state guidelines and program/host school policies.
• May perform attendance records, registration, and staffing duties.

Position Responsibilities

• Facilitating hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum which includes fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities as well as homework completion.
• Providing a safe, healthy, and fun environment and acting as a positive role model for children in the program.
• Observing state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
• Certain positions may also perform management functions such as accurate attendance records, registration, and staffing.

Requirements

• High School Diploma and/or 1 year of childcare experience preferred but not required

Qualifications

• Candidates must successfully pass all required state background checks.
• Requires the ability to meet physical demands, including bending, stretching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds, and actively engaging with energetic children.
• The ideal candidate demonstrates a positive, professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills when working with children, families, and colleagues, along with a consistent record of reliability and punctuality.
