Job summary

Ventura Coastal is hiring for a 2nd shift Scale Operator in Visalia, CA. Responsibilities include weighing, measuring, and documenting shipments, ensuring CCP compliance, and managing BOLs and scale tickets. The role requires a High School diploma and 2–3 years in industrial security, plus proficiency with CitrOS and Microsoft Office.

Bilingual Spanish is a plus. The position supports multiple shifts, with 2pm–10:30pm schedule and shift differential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with 2–3 years of experience in industrial security.
• Experience as a Scale Operator.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products and CitrOS for scale operations and daily activity reporting.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate in writing and orally.
• Reading and writing in English; Spanish bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform Scale Operator duties and ensure data is entered into CitrOS and required formats.
• Act as gatekeeper in the absence of the on-duty security guard; lead covers duties.
• Verify CCPs and document them appropriately.
• Weigh, measure, or count products for inbound/outbound transport.
• Manage inbound/outbound BOLs and scale tickets; interact with drivers.
• Drive the Gator in the yard for visual checks of fruit loads.
• Post shipments to computerized inventories and report hazards to supervisor.
• Accurately distribute, weigh in/out information on BOL; complete inbound paperwork.
• Adhere to safety and operating procedures; direct truckers to control traffic flow.
• Answer phones courteously; maintain scale house equipment.
• Identify coding errors on daily printouts; relieve Security during breaks; fill in when needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work environment; perform other duties as assigned.

Ensures that all necessary information has been entered into both CitrOS and any other required formats. Act as gatekeeper in the absence of an on-duty security guard ensuring that only employees, approved contractors and invited guests are permitted entry into the facility. In the absence of this person, the lead covers these job duties.Primary ResponsibilitiesFood Safety is the responsibility of all Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees. All Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees must be aware of CCPs in their area and how to document them appropriately. All staff must report food safety and quality problems to their immediate supervisor in charge during their shift.In regard to food safety, the Scale Operator must verify that the seals are on the BOL+Tanker Inspection form.Responsible for weighing, measuring, or counting any product to be transported in or out of facility.Responsible for accurate handling of inbound and outbound bills of lading (BOL), scale tickets, face-to-face dialog with drivers.Drive the Gator in the yard to do visual checks of fruit loads.Posting of all shipments to computerized inventories.Report all Hazards to Supervisor/Manager or enter in Industry Safe.Accurately distribute, weigh in and weigh out a type all pertinent information on the BOL. Complete all pertinent information on inbound paperwork and inspection form.Adhere to all safety and operating procedures.Confirm all truck shipments in the database.Properly direct truckers to control traffic flow into and out of the facility.Answer phones in a courteous manner.Maintain equipment related to scale house operations as instructed.Identify and communicate possible coding errors seen on daily printout.Relieve Security team for breaks and lunches.Fill in for the Security team when not present.Maintain cleanliness of the work environment.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications and Education RequirementsHigh School diploma or equivalent with two to three (2-3) years’ experience in industrial security. Experience as a Scale Operator.Proficient in Microsoft Office Products: Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint and large-scale ERP applications a must.Proficient with computer for CitrOS to handle Scale Operator responsibilities and preparing daily activity report.The ability to work successfully in a team environment is a must.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with employees and management in management’s requested format.Must be able to read and write English. Bilingual/Spanish a plus.Physical RequirementsThe ability to meet flexible and changing priorities and the ability to work under pressure is a must. Work is performed inside and outside the property with exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable situations. Long periods of standing, sitting and walking. Ability to work extended hours beyond regularly scheduled shift. Must be able to work with two (2) hours’ notice during off shift.
