Job summary

Valley Services in San Jose is seeking a Scale House Operator to maintain day-to-day operations of the scale(s) and office functions. You will operate the weight scale, scale computer and software, perform data entry, manage cashier duties and keep records accurately.

You will provide prompt service to customers, process load information, and post legible records while answering questions on prices, hours, and directions. Weekend and holiday work may be required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt and courteous service to customers.
• Operate computer to process load/truck information and complete scale tag.
• Perform routine data entry, basic math, and post records clearly.
• Answer calls and respond to questions about prices, waste, hours and directions.
• Complete daily reports, maintain logs and spreadsheets.
• Handle cash and credit transactions using POS software.
• Perform clerical duties as needed and support scale operations.
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays when required.

As a Scale House Operator, you will be a key member in maintaining the day-to-day operations and administrative duties associated with operations of the scale(s) and office assistant functions. You will be responsible for operating the weight scale(s), scale computer and software programs, data entry, cashier duties and record keeping.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Provide prompt and courteous service to our Valley Customers
• Operate computer to process load/truck information and complete scale tag
• Accurately perform routine data entry into a computer, make accurate basic mathematical calculations and accurately post and keep legible records
• Answer phone calls and respond to customer’s questions regarding prices, acceptable waste, hours of operation and directions to our facility
• Complete daily scale/receipt reports, maintain logs, spreadsheets and other reports as assigned
• Perform and assist in clerical and other duties as directed
• Handle cash and credit card transactions using the POS software
• Must be able to work weekends
• Must be able to work holidays when required

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous scale house experience is desired
