Job summary

American Water Works Association is seeking a professional engineer to implement, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial control systems across water and wastewater operations. You will configure PLCs, develop SCADA/HMI screens, and support field instrumentation while ensuring reliable, secure plant performance.

Responsibilities include diagnosing network issues, performing preventive maintenance, and coordinating with contractors during upgrades.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field with two years of ICS experience.
• Or a six-year combination of education, training, and experience in industrial control systems.
• A valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Interpret controls narratives to develop/modify PLC logic for process control.
• Commission, test, and troubleshoot field control panels, PLCs, and remote I/O devices.
• Build and maintain HMI screens for SCADA systems based on process requirements.
• Assist other crafts with installing and configuring instrumentation (flow meters, sensors, transmitters).
• Assist in loop checks, sensor calibrations, and system validation with field staff.
• Support wireless telemetry systems for remote site monitoring and control.
• Diagnose and fix network issues between field devices, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
• Maintain control system servers and infrastructure, monitor performance and backups.
