Job summary

Automatic Systems Co. is seeking a senior control systems engineer to lead PLC/HMI programming for municipal water and wastewater SCADA projects. You will oversee startup, commissioning, and customer coordination for large-scale systems, including FAT validation and field troubleshooting.

The role requires strong PLC/HMI expertise, project leadership, and the ability to travel up to 45% within the Midwest, contributing to secure and modern control solutions for essential utilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or equivalent in automation engineering; 10+ years experience preferred.
• Proven leadership on large municipal water and wastewater SCADA projects.
• Strong PLC/HMI programming and system integration knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Develop and write PLC and HMI programs for municipal water/wastewater SCADA systems.
• Assist FAT testing to validate PLC/HMI programs per safety and quality standards.
• Perform full startup and commissioning of control systems and related field equipment.
• Lead projects and guide engineers, technicians, and subcontractors.
• Troubleshoot networks including EtherNet/IP, Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA, MQTT; ensure cybersecurity best practices.
• Prepare and manage project documentation; communicate with customers through all phases.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting during integration and post-installation.
• Support proposal development, scope definition, and technical reviews.
