Job summary

WSP is seeking a SCADA and Automation Engineer – Technical Director in the United States to lead and deliver advanced utility SCADA projects across transmission, distribution, and generation sectors. You will oversee design, testing, commissioning, and client interaction, mentoring a growing team in and across multiple offices.

The role requires extensive SCADA/EMS/ADMS experience, leadership, and travel. A PE license or equivalent and a strong technical foundation are essential for success at

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 12+ years of relevant post-education experience in SCADA design for power generation, transmission, and distribution.
  • Engineer license required (or equivalent).
  • Advanced proficiency with electrical engineering principles and QA/QC.
  • Ability to work independently and lead mid- to senior-level staff, with strong communication skills.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Familiarity with IEEE, IEC, ANSI, CIGRE, or NERC standards and regulations.
  • Experience with SCADA/EMS/ADMS software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership in design, engineering, and commissioning of utility SCADA projects.
  • Coordinate and review electrical infrastructure design plans for complex projects.
  • Prepare data transfer points, program data routing, and develop HMI screens; travel to test data transfers.
  • Design network paths for RTUs, IEDs, HMIs within substations.
  • Specify and design communication networks; occasional travel to test systems.
  • Adhere to applicable SCADA industry standards and regulations.
  • Develop and implement logic/control schemes for power system equipment; mentor team.
  • Travel as needed and contribute to business development.
