Job summary

Fortrex is seeking an Assistant Site Manager in Sanitation to supervise the sanitation crew and support the Site Manager in daily operations at a processing facility in the United States. The role focuses on maintaining the highest cleanliness and safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include monitoring operations, safety audits, staff development, and coordinating with customers and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Able to read, write, add, and subtract.
• 6 months to 1 year of sanitation experience.
• General working knowledge of computers and technology.
• Ability to work in environments with PPE.
• Fluently speak, read, and write Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, measure, and report on operational issues and opportunities, and assist the Site Manager to develop and implement improvement plans.
• Communicate with the Site Manager daily to report accidents, downtime, damage, and other important plant issues.
• Coordinate with Corporate office regarding logs, payroll, chemical and supply orders, timesheets, etc.
• Complete weekly internal safety audits on staff and equipment to maintain a safe work environment.
• Set, monitor, motivate, and track goals for the sanitation crew for safe, clean, on-time work.
• Manage and develop direct reporting staff: hiring, training, coaching, scheduling, and discipline as needed.
• Ensure compliance with internal procedures and safety handbooks and customer service policies.
• Assist Site Manager in training programs including safety training and ERP.
• Coordinate responses to governmental or customer deficiencies and report accidents.
• Serve as liaison with customers and attend sanitation meetings (production, USDA, audits) on behalf of the company.
• Communicate customer responsibilities for sanitation and follow up to ensure issues are resolved.
