Qualifications

• College degree; hospitality preferred, but not required.
• Basic Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• Must be willing to assist operational departments during all hands-on deck and emergency situations, i.e. high traffic events, fire alarms, etc.

Responsibilities

• Qualify accounts and group bookings to ensure fit for hotel revenue.
• Research local companies and solicit for small group bookings.
• Respond to RFPs promptly and professionally to close business.
• Negotiate room blocks, function space, rates, concessions and terms within hotel framework.
• Conduct site inspections and on-site entertainment as required to close bookings.
• Input all sales activities and bookings into the sales system for transfer to events team.
• Cultivate relationships with booking contacts and decision makers in assigned markets.
• Provide exceptional guest services in all client interactions and with hotel staff.

Job Details: Job Location: The Jefferson Hotel - RICHMOND, VA 23220, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: $57,000.00 - $62,000.00 Base+Commission/year, Job Shift: Day, This results driven position is ideal for a candidate who is looking for an entry into hotel sales as a Sales Manager. The Jefferson provides a fast-paced work environment where a high level of customer service is paramount.

Responsibilities

• Thorough qualification of all accounts and group bookings to ensure that it is the right piece of business for the hotel and that The Jefferson is a good match for the client.
• Research local companies and solicit for small group bookings that cannot otherwise be held at their offices.
• Respond to requests for proposal in a timely and professional manner using sales skills to close the business.
• Negotiate room blocks, function space, rates, concessions and contract terms within the provided frameworks of the hotel’s business model.
• Conduct site inspections, on-site entertainment and outside sales calls as required to close a qualified perspective booking.
• Promptly input all sales activities and bookings into sales system for a successful transfer to the events team, if applicable.
• Cultivate relationships with booking contacts, decision makers and/or referral sources within assigned market segment(s).
• Exhibit exceptional guest services when in the public spaces of the hotel, during all client interactions and when communicating with fellow hotel team members and vendor partners.

Assigned Market Segment

The Sales Manager would be responsible for wedding room blocks and programs of 20 rooms or less on peak night across all group market segments.
