Job summary

Beach Bum Tanning & Airbrush Salon in Plainview, NY is seeking a friendly Tanning Consultant. You will guide clients through tanning options, maintain a welcoming atmosphere, and focus on delivering excellent service while driving sales of lotions and related products.

The role supports both full-time and part-time schedules, with availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Join a fast-paced, customer-focused team and grow with the brand.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in customer service or sales preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills essential.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and create a welcoming atmosphere.
• Assess skin types and recommend tanning options and safety guidelines.
• Explain tanning process clearly and answer questions so clients are comfortable.
• Keep rooms and common areas clean and stocked.
• Recommend and sell lotions and retail products based on client needs.
• Meet or exceed sales goals while delivering excellent service.
• Build client relationships and encourage repeat visits.
• Maintain accurate client records including preferences and history.
• Open and close the salon according to standards.

Key Responsibilities

Your daily responsibilities may include:

• Welcoming clients and creating a warm, inviting atmosphere from the moment they arrive
• Evaluating skin types and recommending the most suitable tanning equipment, products, and safety guidelines
• Explaining the tanning process clearly, answering questions, and ensuring clients feel comfortable and informed
• Keeping tanning rooms and common areas clean, organized, and fully stocked
• Recommending and selling lotions and retail products based on client needs
• Consistently meeting or surpassing sales goals while maintaining excellent customer service
• Building strong client relationships and encouraging repeat visits
• Maintaining accurate client records, including preferences and tanning history
• Opening and closing the salon according to company standards

Qualifications

We’re looking for candidates who are:

• Positive, outgoing, and passionate about the tanning and beauty industry
• High school graduates (or equivalent)
• At least 18 years old
• Strong communicators, both verbally and in writing
• Experienced in customer service or sales (preferred)
• Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Comfortable standing, bending, and being on their feet for extended periods
